The eggchasers...

Looks like Brian Ashton could well be on his way after a meeting with Rob Andrew today.

Although still unconfirmed, England's patchy 2008 Six Nations "Assault" has seemingly led the RFU to lose their blob with the old fella and his unreliable England side. Danny Cipriani led Ashton's troops to a morale boosting 33-10 win over Ireland on St Patrick's Day (the fake one) last Saturday but Ashton's time looks to be coming to an end only 14 months into his reign.

He'll be remembered for a cracking effort at the World Cup in France last year, but his inconsistent team selections and seemingly old-fashioned training methods have led to widespread criticism. It seems difficult to predict where England will turn but Wales' remarkable resurgence in winning the Grand Slam shows that with a bit of direction, any team can dominate in what really is a poor set of sides in the Six Nations.
